• Enables the donor to give twice as much blood during one visit

• Facilitates better planning for the future by matching donor potential with anticipated needs. For example, if type O red cells are in short supply and a type O donor is available, the center can collect two units of type O cells. Also, center recruiters can telephone previously identified type O donors to request that they come to the center to help meet the need.
• Filters both units of red cells with one leukoreduction filter
• Requires no sterile weld process

For simultaneous collection of red cells and plasma (RBC-P), Haemonetics also offers a protocol that collects one unit of red cells and 400 to 550 ml of plasma from one donor during a single collection procedure
