Two leading organizations working together to advance safe Patient Blood Management

Coming Soon!  “Patient Blood Management Through the Lens of Patient Safety”

This module is being developed collaboratively by an expert advisory panel and will provide information and resources to educate healthcare professionals on the safety implications of blood transfusion, clinical principles of PBM and strategies for establishing a PBM program.

While blood has played a central role in clinical practice for decades, the proof of safety and efficacy of blood transfusions remains ill-defined in comparison to other forms of medical and surgical interventions. This module will review the safety implications of blood transfusion and introduce the practice of Patient Blood Management.

This module will provide information and resources to educate healthcare professionals on the following key areas:

  • History of blood transfusion
  • Safety implications of blood transfusion
  • Clinical principles of Patient Blood Management
  • Strategies for establishing a Patient Blood Management Program
